Gerry Connolly Cross County Trail, VA
The Gerry Connolly Cross County Trail (CCT) is a 40.5 mixed surface trail/route from the Potomac to the Occoquan River on the Virginia side of the DC Metro Area. It's linear, so riders can start at either end, and so there likely would be separate timing for each direction. The north end, mile marker 0, is where Difficult Run empties into the Potomac, and the south end is on the banks of the Occoquan near Brickmakers Cafe. The CCT is notable for maximizing the use of the few forested areas and stream valleys in a county that is primarily urban and developed.
