Presque To Presque
Name: Presque To Presque
Start - Presque Isle Rustic Campground Entrance
Finish- Presque Isle Park (Marquette)
Length: 170 miles
GPX: Ride with GPS
Description: The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is one of the most rugged and overlooked regions in the Midwest, yet it currently has no established cycling FKTs. This route aims to change that by showcasing the very best of the western U.P. while presenting a challenge worthy of the Fastest Known Time community.
Riders will pass through some of the peninsula's most iconic landscapes and historic destinations, including the Porcupine Mountains, the dramatic shoreline at Presque Isle, and the storied mining towns of Ishpeming and Negaunee. The route highlights the unique character of the region, where dense forests, rocky ridgelines, inland lakes, and the shores of Lake Superior come together to create an unforgettable ride.
True to the spirit of an FKT, this is not a route that comes easily. Most riders will need to travel to reach the start, resupply opportunities can be sparse, and outside support is limited. Success requires careful planning, self-sufficiency, and the ability to handle long stretches of remote terrain. The hope is that this route becomes the first of many iconic FKTs across Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula.
While much of the course is paved, don't mistake that for an easy ride. The unpaved sectors add technical variety and demand solid bike handling, while the notoriously rough pavement of the U.P. often feels just as punishing as gravel. Unlike many Midwestern FKTs that primarily follow roads, this route blends pavement, gravel, and rugged surfaces into a uniquely challenging adventure that reflects the wild nature of the Upper Peninsula.
