Ohio to Erie Trail

Name: Ohio to Erie Trail
The Start:
Smale Riverfront Park, Cincinnati, OH
Finish: Edgewater Park, Cleveland, OH
GPX: File
Distance: 326 miles

Description: The Ohio to Erie Trail is a one-of-a-kind ride, connecting the Ohio River to Lake Erie, it crosses the entire state using a patchwork of rail trails, towpaths, bike lanes, and backroads. What makes it so compelling isn’t just the distance, but the incredible variety: you roll through quiet farmland, historic canal towns, dense forests, rustbelt cities, and vibrant downtowns. It’s Ohio in full, from riverfront to lakeshore.
It’s also an unusually accessible long-distance route. The OTET is well-signed, mostly made up of bike paths, and passes through enough towns to keep resupply straightforward. That makes it perfect for multi-day riders—but it also sets the stage for a huge endurance effort. Riding it in one push transforms a mellow touring route into a real test of focus, pacing, and resilience.
