Lake Ontario Loop
Name: Lake Ontario Loop
Start/Finish: Toronto, CAN
Distance: 512.46 miles
GPS: File
Description: The Lake Ontario Circumnavigation Loop is a 500+ mile route that takes riders around one of North America’s Great Lakes. Beginning and ending at the same point, the loop traverses the rolling hills of eastern New York, cuts through the bustling Niagara region and Greater Toronto Area, and follows the gentler waterfront terrain of eastern Ontario. With frequent resupply points, the loop is approachable for both unsupported and supported riders. The route also incorporates a ride on the Glenora Ferry and requires crossing the border at the 1000 Islands. Because bicycles are not permitted on the connecting highway at the border, riders must arrange a vehicle ride across.

Notable Considerations
- Border Crossing: The 1000 Islands crossing requires a vehicle transfer. In supported attempts, crews can provide transport. Unsupported riders will need to secure a ride, which may take time.
- Terrain: Expect relentless rolling hills in eastern New York, fast-moving sections through urban centres, and scenic, flatter miles along Ontario’s eastern shoreline.
