Description:   This is part of an Andalucia chain of routes called Vias Verdes (or Greenway), mainly using reclaimed train routes. The Vías Verdes management of the Spanish Railways Foundation presents the Camino Natural Greenway FC. It is a spectacular route through the southeast of the peninsula between the Almanzora Valley in Almería and the Granada highlands in the Baza area.  A route that for decades was crossed by a railway that transported tons of iron and other goods.

There is an extension of the route to Almendricos that goes via the town of Huercal Overa, but the route to Huercal Overa from Arboleas is not yet complete or fully mapped. So this extension is excluded from this FKT until the section is complete, although there has been no change now for at least 5 years (when and if it is it will add appx 30-35km to the route).

It’s a white gravel route that follows the valley all the way to Baza, passing by a whole series of lovely white Andalusian towns. There are several metal viaducts and bridges to cross, notably those of Baúl, Canales, Baza, Valcabra, and Albox. 5 tunnels and 1 footbridge are also on the route.
